If you tell a friend you will do something, follow through and do what you said. If you say you will be somewhere at a certain time, be prompt. Without being able to trust your word, your friends may have a hard time trusting your honesty or your loyalty. Forgetting from time to time is one thing; constantly failing to follow through on your word is another. If you want strong friendships, be true to your word-consistently.
